Reaching maturity in the 70’s

In 1970 and 1971, the modifications made to the DS were mainly focused on its transmission. In September 1970, the DS was equipped with a manual gearbox offering not four but five speeds and a year later, with a three speeds automatic gearbox from the brand Borg-Warner. Before retiring once and for all in July 1975, after 20 years of a successful career, the DS experienced a final evolution when the DS 21 was replaced by the DS 23 in September 1972. This last model received a 2,347cc engine with electronic fuel injection, delivering 141hp for a maximal speed of almost 120 mph.
